Lily Kwong partnered up with Creative Director Emily Smith to create a botanical art installation at the Lafayette 148 retail store in Soho in celebration of the new Fall Winter ‘21 collection.
Studio Lily Kwong’s installation reimagines the urban landscape, fantasizing of a New York City being overtaken by plant life. Exploring topography playfully covered in purple majesty millet, Angelwing begonias and deep red pennisetums, SLK focused on building a plant palette rich with anthocyanins. These coloured pigments found in plants have been implicated in tolerance to stressors as diverse as drought to pathogens, serving as a potent reminder of nature’s powerful healing properties and mysterious interconnections. In the concrete landscape of SoHo, the piece is a refreshing burst of colour – a palette cleanser and reset for a brighter future ahead.
