“China: Through The Looking Glass,” focuses on the influence of Chinese culture on Western fashion and how for centuries now, China has fueled the fashion industry. Cultural hybridity is highlighted in this exhibition through the juxtaposition between high fashion and traditional Chinese art such as costumes, paintings, and films. Over 140 haute couture and ready-to-wear pieces are displayed alongside various pieces of art deriving from the Chinese Culture. Lamb Design Studios are responsible for creating the design of the exhibition. By incorporating cultural elements within the design of the exhibition, Lamb Designs created exquisite visuals relating all the way back to western fashion from centuries ago.
"With the use of reflective surfaces; cinematic lighting; and a winding, maze-like format, artistic director Wong Kar Wai and production designer Nathan Crowley have created a truly immersive experience."
