Josh Peskowitz is an instantly recognizable figure in the global menswear industry. With an intuitive style sensibility and acuity for cool, Josh’s discerning and playful palate has been a driving force narrating the dialogue on men’s fashion and lifestyle interests through jobs at The FADER, Esquire Magazine, Style.com, and Gilt Groupe; working variously as a stylist, writer, and fashion director.
Having served as men’s fashion director for luxury online platform, Moda Operandi and iconic American retailer Bloomingdales, Josh was responsible for shaping the creative direction and editorial voice for each retailer. He has been a retailer in his own right, curating and operating cult specialty menswear boutique Magasin in Los Angeles, which catered to a well-informed American menswear consumer.
Josh also collaborates and consults for a handful of global lifestyle and luxury brands including Levi’s, Brooklyn based shoe brand Greats, Glenfiddich Scotch Whisky and more, while continuing to garner the attention of street style photographers and amass an extensive social media followership through a uniquely daring vision that redefines the spirit of masculinity and men’s style.
The only two things that matter when it comes to men’s clothing are craftsmanship and innovation. That’s where good stories come from. If you’re going to be investing in clothing, you want to know why."
Levi’s teamed up with Peskowitz to create his first range of progressive silhouettes, combing relaxed tailoring, innovative details and Japanese fabrics.
“I created a capsule collection where each piece may be paired with denim or work well together,” says Peskowitz. “Working with artisanal — but not antiquated — fabrics from Japan elevates the pieces and gives them a character that only gets better with age, just like a pair of Levi’s® jeans.”
In an effort to promote their 21-year-old single-malt whisky, world-renown scotch whisky brand Glenfiddich is partnering with Josh Peskowitz, to create its first-ever menswear line via an exclusive capsule collection entitled “Glenfiddich’s Wardrobe XXI.” The collection, created by Mr. Peskowitz brought the spirit of high-end fashion together with the quality of high-end spirits such as that of Glenfiddich 21 Year Old.
Josh Peskowitz, the former men’s fashion director at Bloomingdale’s and a true menswear legend, surprised everyone by decamping to the West Coast last year. He left to open his first store, Magasin, in Culver City, California. It’s a place for men who might want to learn more about their clothing and how it is made.
"Magasin, is filled with the kind of stuff you’d want in a West Coast store from an East Coast guy. That is, clothing that is California-appropriate but more elegant than your typical surf- and skate-inspired gear. Think: soft tailoring, accessories with some vague hippie vibes (that's a good thing), and a refreshing absence of black and gray."
