The World Stage: Africa featured ten paintings from Kehinde Wiley’s ongoing World Stage series and marked his first solo exhibition at The Studio Museum in Harlem.

For the series, Wiley traveled to Senegal and Nigeria, creating portraits of local men posed after historical public sculptures from Dakar and Lagos.

The works connect contemporary African identity with art, history, and public representation, continuing Wiley’s exploration of how marginalized figures can be repositioned within established visual traditions.
