Dan Thawley served as co-editor for the new Rizzoli published monograph “Erdem”, the first book to celebrate the world of designer Erdem Moralioglu.
The book is a poetic and personal immersion into the designers world released to mark 20 years of his independent fashion house. Echoing Erdem’s own layering of historical references and cultural touchstones, the book interweaves primary source material, artworks and photography from seminal 20th and 21st century names including Alasdair McLellan, Campbell Addy, Craig McDean, Ethan James Green, Inez & Vinoodh, Juergen Teller, Steven Klein and Tyler Mitchell. Designed by A Practice for Everyday Life this lyrical tome charts a non-chronological path through the many worldly and other-worldly references that have shaped Erdem’s prolific oeuvre — from pioneering, radical women throughout history to the fringes of queer art and literature.
"Above all, ‘ERDEM’ celebrates culture and craft, revealing a world where fashion lives and breathes in libraries and museums just as it does in stately homes and on the street. It’s a testament to two decades of unwavering commitment to independent creation — a rare anomaly in our day and age.”
