Considered by many to be one of the most visionary couturiers of our time, 35 year old Iris Van Herpen’s technically-advanced designs are true pieces of art. A guest member of the Parisian Syndicale de la Haute Couture, the Dutch-born designer is known to for creating fantasy couture collections which she showcases during Paris Couture Week.
An advocate of using a multidisciplinary approach to fashion design, the cutting-edge couturier is known for her unconventional collaborations with physicists, scientists, architects, sculptors and artists to develop her collections. A true avant-garde at heart, Van Harpen is constantly pushing boundaries through her unparalleled use of innovative materials, techniques and technologies to create one-of-a-kind, illusory designs that redefine the principles of garment construction. Her game-changing approach to fashion has enabled her to amass a loyal celebrity clientele with the likes of Cate Blanchett, Tilda Swinton and Beyonce clamoring to wear her designs.
Van Herpen’s work has been showcased globally as part of prominent fashion and design exhibitions at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the Cooper-Hewitt Museum in New York and the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. The outstanding Amsterdam-based couturier has received widespread recognition for her visionary and has received the ANDAM Grand Prix Award, the STARTS Prize and the Johannes Vermeer Award.
