Dezeen Showroom: international furniture brand Andreu World has developed a collection of aluminium-and-rope seating and tables that “reinterprets wickerwork“.
A modular sofa, lounge chair, dining chair, a side table and a coffee table make up the Brezal outdoor furniture range, which is united by its aluminium framework interwoven with lengths of rope.
The collection is a contemporary interpretation of rattan – a technique that sees dried grasses woven into solid panels, where the negative space created by the pieces’ skeletal frames are filled in with taut sequences of rope.
The rope itself comes in a selection of seven colours and is made from polypropylene, making it weatherproof.
The seating’s upholstery and cushions are also designed with durability in mind to withstand adverse weather conditions.
“The Brezal Collection blends traditional craftsmanship with modern technology, reinterpreting wickerwork through aluminium,” said Andreu World.
