Greg Lauren Men’s RTW Spring 2016

Jul. 16, 2015

Greg Lauren really went for it in his spring collection, walking 62 looks down the runway and making this his most compelling effort to date. The scene was set by the burlap sacks on the seats, and when the first two Bedouin looks came out, it was clear that this was more than just another catwalk.

“I wanted to create an epic men’s wear story,” Lauren said. Given the number of looks, he certainly did that.

The lineup was divided into color stories with white, beige and military green key in the palette. Regardless of color, Lauren applied his signature deconstruction techniques to nearly all of the pieces, from the trenchcoats and suits to the occasional poncho.

“It’s a celebration of the creativity in men’s wear today and redefining the classic architecture,” said Lauren backstage after the show, where his father, Jerry, gave him a big hug.

The denim and indigo segment was a standout, in particular a vintage-inspired three-piece indigo striped suit with cargo pockets, another feature throughout the collection.

“It’s all about the pockets,” he said. “Today, we all have a lot of baggage.”
