WELCOME TO MIAMI:WELCOME TO MIAMI: Balenciaga will open a flagship in the Miami Design District today, the 12th store in the U.S. for the luxury brand.
The building is designed as a site-specific project, using functional solar panels as part of a facade, which is unusual in the brand’s retail network. The pale blue panels are installed.

above clear glass windows at street level, with large-scale luminous Balenciaga lettering visible from the street.
The 1,590-square-foot store was designed by Balenciaga’s in-house team under the creative direction of Demna Gvasalia, creative director.
The interior and furnishings continue the theme of an industrial yet luxurious environment, which Gvasalia has created for the Paris flagship stores at Rue Saint-Honoré and Avenue Montaigne. Several elements of a state-of-the-art clothing factory are integrated into the plan, which presents product to customers in a direct, uncomplicated way.

The store features two spacious floors. The first floor highlights the women’s collection, handbags and shoes with an exposed ceiling. Clothing hangs from suspended racks. There’s a staircase to the second floor, which is dedicated to men’s wear, small leather goods and footwear. The floor has a pink allover Balenciaga logo-printed carpet. There are two fitting rooms in the women’s area, and two fitting rooms in the men’s area.
Balenciaga joins other luxury boutiques in the Miami Design District such as Saint Laurent, Dior, Bulgari, Gucci, Prada, Céline, Tom Ford and Valentino.
Balenciaga also has a store in the Bal Harbour Shops in Bal Harbour, Fla., but the Miami Design District store is considered the brand’s first flagship in Florida.
