Dan Thawley

Dan Thawley is an Australian born journalist and editor.

After joining fashion title A Magazine Curated By as online editor in 2009, he became editor in chief in 2010, creating issues with Giambattista Valli (2010), Rodarte (2011), Stephen Jones (2013), Iris van Herpen (2014), Delfina Delettrez (2015), Thom Browne, (2016) Alessandro Michele (2016), Eckhaus Latta (2017), Simone Rocha (2018), Kim Jones (2019), Pierpaolo Piccioli (2019), Lucie and Luke Meier (2020), Grace Wales Bonner (2021), Francesco Risso (2022), Erdem (2022) and Sacai (2023).

A wider interest in fashion, architecture, design, and contemporary art has led to freelance contributions for international cultural titles including American Vogue, Architectural Digest, The Business of Fashion, Vogue Italia & L’Uomo Vogue, Vogue Hommes, Document Journal, POP, Arena Homme +, T Magazine, Wallpaper* and the Wall Street Journal.

After leaving his role at A Magazine Curated By in 2023, Thawley continues to consult with both emerging designers and established houses on creative content and editorial projects. Past and present clients include Ann Demeulemeester, Byredo, Chanel, Chloé, Dior, Fendi, Givenchy, Hermès, Maison Margiela, Loewe, Paco Rabanne, Rimowa, Smythson, and The Row.

In 2016, Thawley authored ‘Radical Renaissance’, a 204-page tome published by Assouline NYC tracing the decade long evolution of Renzo Rosso’s Only the Brave company – Italy’s foremost fashion conglomerate and parent company to Diesel, Maison Margiela, Marni, Viktor & Rolf, and a host of commercial and philanthropic ventures.

In 2018, he wrote ‘RIMOWA’ published by Assouline NYC, tracing the 120 year history of the German luggage label back to the origins of modern travel.

He currently resides in Paris, France.
